PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, the fuel distribution arm of state energy company PT Pertamina (Persero), reduced prices for three non-subsidized gasoline products starting August 1, 2026, in what the company described as its first rate cut since prices spiked in June. Pertamax in the Greater Jakarta area dropped from Rp16,250 to Rp15,950 per liter, while Pertamax Green 95 and Pertamax Turbo saw similar reductions of roughly Rp300 to Rp1,000 per liter.
The June 10 increase that preceded this cut followed several months of elevated global energy prices tied to the military conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which had pushed international crude benchmarks above $100 a barrel earlier in the year. Separate reporting noted that global crude prices had eased to around $88 a barrel by the end of July, providing room for the downward adjustment.
Pertamina Patra Niaga Vice President of Corporate Communications Kitty Andhora said the adjustment reflects government regulations and directives, taking into account global oil price movements, the rupiah exchange rate and public purchasing power. She added that the pricing decision is part of Pertamina’s commitment to protecting domestic purchasing power while maintaining stable national fuel supply.
The price cut applies only to non-subsidized Pertamax variants. Diesel products in the Dex series, including Dexlite and Pertamina Dex, were kept at their previous levels, and government-set subsidized fuels Pertalite and Biosolar remained flat nationwide. The adjustment was described as part of Pertamina’s regular monthly review process.
Pertamina had raised prices for several fuel types earlier in the year as global oil markets reacted to the conflict in the Middle East, including increases to Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite and Pertamina Dex in April and further increases to Pertamax Green 95 and Pertamax in June.
