The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that the candidates for the Parliamentary District Representative as well as nominees of Regional Parliamentary Political Parties (RPPPs) and Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations (PSOs) for the upcoming Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) will be posted on its official website starting May 13.
Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said the List of Nominees with Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination with Affidavit of Non-Affinity (CAN-ANA), List of Nominees with Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination for Sectoral Candidacy (CAN-SC), Consolidated List of Nominees, and List of Parliamentary District Representative Candidates will be at the Comelec website www.comelec.gov.ph on Wednesday.
“We shall provide the public with information through the publication of Certificates of Candidacy (and List of Nominees),” he said in a television interview Tuesday.
Laudiangco also urged the public to help them in scrutinizing the bets and nominees for the BPE set on Sept. 14 to ensure that they are qualified and eligible.
“Maybe there are those who are not qualified, not a Filipino citizen… This is the opportunity for us to file a disqualification case,” he said.
“They can file cases against those who did not tell the truth in their Certificates of Candidacy, disqualification for those who are not qualified and those who will violate the law, and against those who are just being nuisance candidates.”
Under Comelec Resolution No. 11220, Petitions for Disqualification of candidates or party nominees may be filed on any day within regular working hours but not later than the date of proclamation.
Based on Comelec data, there are a total of 108 COCs filed during the COC filing period from May 5 to 7.
These include 17 for Basilan, 33 for Lanao del Sur, 11 for Maguindanao del Norte, 16 for Maguindanao del Sur, 13 for Tawi-Tawi, seven for Special Geographic Area, and 11 for Cotabato City.
The Commission en banc approved a total of 16 applicants for RPPPs, while 23 PSOs have been accredited. (PNA)
