The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) reported Monday its recent distribution of ceramic water filters to 334 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiary families in Davao Oriental, ensuring vulnerable households have access to safe and clean drinking water.
The intervention, conducted from May 13 to 15 in partnership with Clean Water International Philippines (CWIP), benefited families in the towns of Baganga and Cateel as part of efforts to promote better health and sanitation.
In Baganga town, the villages that benefited from the water filters included Binondo (130), San Isidro (49), Campawan (41), Mahanub (31), and Kinablangan (12).
Meanwhile, 71 families in Cateel also received the same assistance.
“The intervention is targeted at communities that fall under Level 1 and Level 2 of the Safe Drinking Water Indicator of 4Ps,” DSWD-11 said in an online post.
The distribution was implemented by the 4Ps Regional Program Management Office and the Provincial Operations Office (POO) of Davao Oriental, in partnership with CWIP.
DSWD-11 emphasized that the collaboration significantly contributes to addressing residents’ basic water needs and protecting families from waterborne diseases.
Ceramic water filters use sub-micron pores to block bacteria, cysts, and sediment, offering high pathogen removal, reusability, off-grid use, and preservation of healthy minerals. (PNA)
