Petronas, through Malaysia Petroleum Management, known as MPM, announced the agreement with Iraya Energies to enhance its myPROdata platform with agentic AI capabilities. The upgraded system is designed to combine geological, geophysical, engineering and other upstream data with AI that can autonomously analyze and connect multiple data sources, allowing users to navigate complex information and generate insights more efficiently.
MPM senior vice president Datuk Ir. (Dr.) Bacho Pilong said the enhanced platform would help investors navigate and assess Malaysia’s upstream opportunities with greater speed and confidence. Pilong said bringing together trusted data with AI-powered intelligence was intended to enable faster, more informed investment decisions supporting the company’s investment ambitions.
Under the agreement, Iraya Energies will act as consortium lead integrator, responsible for establishing the technical, commercial and security foundations for the AI capabilities and their broader rollout across the platform. The enhanced system is also expected to support end-to-end evaluations, from identifying prospective areas and assessing resources to evaluating development opportunities and their commercial viability.
Petronas said the initiative forms part of MPM’s role in strengthening Malaysia’s upstream investment ecosystem while supporting continued development of the country’s hydrocarbon resources. The move builds on earlier steps in Petronas’ digital strategy, including a series of memoranda of understanding signed at the ADIPEC 2025 conference covering AI integration and high-performance computing in the upstream sector with partners including SLB, ConocoPhillips, Microsoft, and Shell.
