Route Launch Details
TransNusa Airlines’ inaugural Jakarta-Bangkok flight touched down at Suvarnabhumi Airport on August 6, 2026, where it was met by TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool and TransNusa Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Bernard Francis in an official reception. The flight arrived at full capacity, carrying 174 Indonesian passengers including H.E. Mr. Hari Prabowo, Indonesia’s ambassador to Thailand.
The route is served by a 174-seat Airbus A320-200 operating 14 flights per week between the two cities, delivering approximately 2,500 inbound seats weekly and more than 130,000 seats annually. TransNusa entered the market with a twice-daily schedule from day one, a higher initial frequency than the three-to-four-weekly pattern typically used to launch new international routes. Francis described the Jakarta-Bangkok corridor as historically one of the busiest in the region.
Tourism Partnership Backing The Route
The service launch builds on a memorandum of understanding TransNusa signed with TAT on August 4, 2026, alongside a separate agreement between TAT and Traveloka, covering destination marketing, travel product development and stronger air links between Indonesia and Thailand. The agreements were commemorated at the Indonesia-Thailand Business Forum in the presence of Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. Under the TransNusa agreement, a direct Bali-Phuket service is planned for late 2026, supported by joint marketing activity intended to expand route awareness among Indonesian travellers.
TAT said the additional capacity is intended to draw independent travellers, Muslim families and younger travellers, and framed the launch within its “Airline Focus” strategy and the Thai government’s broader push to expand air connectivity. Between January 1 and August 2, 2026, Thailand recorded 378,881 Indonesian visitor arrivals, with an average stay of six days, 85 percent travelling independently and 53 percent repeat visitors; Bangkok, Songkhla, Chon Buri, Phuket and Krabi ranked as leading destinations.
Network Context
The Jakarta-Bangkok route extends TransNusa’s international network beyond its existing destinations of Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Perth and Guangzhou. TransNusa marked the launch with introductory one-way fares starting from IDR 2,999,000.
