NephroPlus Philippines Expands Kidney Health Advocacy Through “Kaagapay Sa Kalusugan Ng Bato” Initiative

Having reached six communities across the Philippines since its launch in 2025, NephroPlus Philippines continues to expand its flagship kidney health education initiative, Kaagapay sa Kalusugan ng Bato, bringing essential kidney health education, patient empowerment, and community engagement closer to Filipinos nationwide. Conducted quarterly, the initiative underscores the organization’s commitment to improving kidney health awareness and equipping dialysis patients, caregivers, and the public with the knowledge and support needed to better manage chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Launched in the second quarter of 2025 in Quezon City, Metro Manila, the initiative has steadily expanded its reach to communities across the country. Following its inaugural session, Kaagapay sa Kalusugan ng Bato was successfully conducted in Biñan, Laguna; Bacolod City (Negros Occidental); Isabela; Cagayan; and most recently, Baguio City. Held every quarter, the program reflects NephroPlus Philippines’ long-term commitment to making kidney health education more accessible to Filipinos nationwide and bringing essential kidney health information closer to the communities that need it most.

NephroPlus Philippines welcomed Dr. Noli Velasquez, Transplant and Vascular Surgeon, who shared insights on vascular access and the importance of timely kidney care.

Each session brings together dialysis patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community members for interactive discussions on kidney disease prevention, early detection, proper disease management, nutrition, medication adherence, vascular access care, and lifestyle modifications that help improve patients’ quality of life. Participants are also given the opportunity to raise questions and receive practical guidance from healthcare professionals regarding their treatment journey.

Beyond health education, the initiative provides a valuable venue for patients and caregivers to connect, exchange experiences, and build a supportive community. By fostering these meaningful interactions, NephroPlus recognizes that emotional and social support are equally important in helping patients navigate the challenges of living with chronic kidney disease.

“At NephroPlus, we believe that quality dialysis care extends beyond the treatment provided inside our clinics. Through Kaagapay sa Kalusugan ng Bato, we aim to empower patients and their families with the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to actively participate in their healthcare journey and improve their quality of life,” said Gowtham Arumugam, Country Head of NephroPlus.

The initiative reflects NephroPlus Philippines’ patient-first philosophy, where every dialysis patient is regarded as a “guest” and receives holistic care that goes beyond clinical treatment. By continuously engaging communities through education and advocacy, the organization seeks to increase awareness of chronic kidney disease, encourage regular screening among high-risk individuals, and promote timely medical intervention before the disease progresses.

Chronic kidney disease remains a growing public health concern in the Philippines, with many patients diagnosed only after the disease has reached its advanced stages. Healthcare experts emphasize that regular monitoring of blood pressure, blood sugar, and kidney function—particularly among individuals with diabetes, hypertension, or a family history of kidney disease—can help detect kidney disease early and slow its progression.

As one of the country’s leading dialysis care providers, NephroPlus Philippines remains committed to working closely with government agencies, local government units, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to improve access to quality dialysis care while advancing kidney health education throughout the country.

Building on the momentum of its nationwide advocacy, NephroPlus Philippines will continue the Kaagapay sa Kalusugan ng Bato initiative with its next quarterly session scheduled in September 2026 in Guimba, Nueva Ecija. The upcoming event aims to reach more patients, caregivers, and community members with practical knowledge on kidney disease prevention and management while strengthening local partnerships that promote better kidney health outcomes.

Now in its second year, Kaagapay sa Kalusugan ng Bato continues to reach more communities every quarter, reinforcing NephroPlus Philippines’ mission of delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while empowering Filipinos to take a more active role in protecting their kidney health. Through sustained education, collaboration, and community engagement, NephroPlus Philippines remains dedicated to building healthier communities and helping more Filipinos live better lives beyond dialysis.
