The city government donated four brand-new fire trucks, valued at PHP-40 million, to the Bureau of Fire Protection on Monday, boosting the firefighting capability of the Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD).
Mayor Khymer Olaso personally handed over the fire trucks to Supt. Leo Pioquinto, ZCFD marshal, after a convocation in front of City Hall.
“The firefighting units are purchased based on approved specifications covering equipment, vehicle features, and overall firefighting capabilities,” Olaso said during the turnover ceremony.
He said two of the four units have a 4,000-liter water capacity, while the other two carry 6,000 liters. The fire trucks were purchased under the city’s peace and order funds at PHP 10 million each.
The new fire trucks, supplied by Fireworks Motors, will enhance ZCFD’s fire response operations.
ZCFD personnel tested the fire trucks and equipment at a nearby facility near the City Hall area after the blessing and turnover ceremonies.
Pioquinto said two of the new fire trucks will be stationed at the Zamboanga City Central Fire Station, while the other two are assigned to the fire sub-stations in Barangays Ayala and San Roque.
Currently, the ZCFD has 34 fire trucks, including the four new ones from the city government. (PNA)
