A total of 7,320 tricycle drivers in Ilocos Region are set to receive PHP5,000 cash relief assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday.
Of the total number of beneficiaries, 166 are in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, 1,177 in Naguilian, La Union, and in Pangasinan, 862 in Manaoag, 1,396 in Mangaldan, 968 in San Fabian, 499 in San Jacinto, 1,210 in Binalonan, Pangasinan, and 1,042 in Asingan, said DSWD regional information officer Kristine Sheila Amoroso, in an interview on Wednesday.
They are part of the total 367,000 tricycle drivers target beneficiaries outside of Metro Manila.
The aid aims to ease the burden of the effects of the sudden increase in oil prices among the public utility vehicle drivers.
On April 8, a total of 12,625 tricycle drivers from the four cities of Pangasinan were the first to receive cash aid from the DSWD.
The payout for public utility vehicle drivers will continue until April 30 this year. (PNA)
