As global demand for semiconductors accelerates, the need for highly skilled engineering talent continues to grow. The Philippines, producing over 80,000 engineering and technical graduates annually and recognized for its strength in Assembly, Testing, and Packaging (ATP), is emerging as a critical talent hub in the global semiconductor supply chain.
Recognizing the Philippines’ growing role in the global semiconductor ecosystem, the Intelligent Electronics Institute (IEI) under the Industrial Development Administration (IDA) of Taiwan is bringing the Taiwan Semiconductor Career Day to Manila from April 22 to 24, 2026. A leading industry body representing Taiwan’s electronics and semiconductor sector, IEI underscores the strengthening strategic partnership between Taiwan and the Philippines in advancing talent development, workforce mobility, and industry collaboration.
The initiative bridges Filipino STEM students and engineering professionals with global opportunities through direct engagement with Taiwan’s leading semiconductor companies. Attendees will gain access to one-on-one interviews, career talks, and expert-led discussions that provide practical insights into international career pathways.
It also addresses the growing gap in advanced manufacturing skills, particularly as the industry shifts toward automation, AI-driven processes, and next-generation packaging technologies.
The event will roll out in select academic institutions, including the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), and Mapúa University, through a series of physical events and industry talks designed to align academic training with real-world semiconductor applications.
IEI will also host a dedicated Career Day for Filipino engineers and semiconductor professionals on April 25, 2026 at SM Megamall’s Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong City. This leg of the program will focus on long-term career development, offering structured pathways for Filipino professionals to work in Taiwan with guidance on visa processing and relocation support. Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with Taiwan’s industry giants in semiconductor industry, such as ASE, PTI, VIS, SPIL, Micron Taiwan, WinWay, Chipbond, and USI.
Beyond immediate hiring, the program emphasizes sustainable growth. Industry data shows that engineers with “Taiwan-standard” experience are highly sought after worldwide, with career progression paths leading to senior management or specialized technical lead roles within five to seven years.
As semiconductor supply chains continue to diversify, the Philippines is emerging as a regional stabilization hub in Southeast Asia’s manufacturing landscape. The Philippine semiconductor market is projected to reach USD 7.21 billion by 2026, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.58%.
Filipino engineers are uniquely positioned to contribute to this growth by bridging Southeast Asian manufacturing capabilities with Taiwan’s leadership in advanced semiconductor innovation.
