The National Housing Authority (NHA) in Soccsksargen announced Tuesday it distributed 100 housing units to Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in Sultan Kudarat province.
In a radio interview, NHA 12 Regional Manager Zenaida Cabiles said the recipients of the PHP20 million NHA Housing Assistance Program for Indigenous Peoples on Monday were members of the Dulangan-Manobo tribe in Sitio Tamangan, Barangay Kuden, Sen. Ninoy Aquino town.
“The housing project also forms part of the town’s Resettlement Assistance Program,” she said. Each core house has a floor area of 24 square meters, built on an 80-square-meter lot.
“We are very grateful that government services reach our far-flung communities. Indeed, this government is for the welfare of the people in the mountains,” said Abai, one of the IP beneficiaries, in the vernacular during the same radio interview.
Housing aid distributed
Meanwhile, Cabiles also announced that her office distributed financial aid under the NHA Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) for victims of natural disasters. Recipients were in Surallah and Lake Sebu (South Cotabato); Makilala, Midsayap, and Kabacan (North Cotabato); and Kalamansig (Sultan Kudarat).
Each family whose house was damaged by flash floods received PHP10,000 from NHA to help rebuild their damaged homes.
Cabiles said 120 families received this “Tulong Pabahay Fund,” totaling PHP1.2 million in financial aid. (PNA)
