More than 15,000 farmers and fisherfolk from Agusan del Norte are set to receive cash relief assistance through the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk (PAFF).
The provincial government, together with the congressional office of Lone District Rep. Dale Corvera and the Department of Agriculture in Caraga Region (DA-13), has already held a series of coordination meetings to ensure the efficient and orderly distribution of cash assistance across the province.
“The distribution process has been finalized. We are thankful for the support from DA-13 and the provincial government in preparing for this cash assistance,” said Orencio Corvera, the chief of staff of the congressional office in the province, in a Tuesday interview.
He added that they are just waiting for the release of the funding and will proceed with the series of distribution activities slated within the month.
Each beneficiary will receive PHP2,325 in cash assistance through PAFF, an initiative of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which aims to provide timely and targeted interventions to vulnerable sectors hit by rising fuel prices caused by ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
“The coordination meeting last April 27 has finalized the process, and other important necessities for the swift and effective distribution of the cash aid,” Corvera said.
Leaders of the farmers’ and fisherfolk associations across the province were already consulted and briefed on the distribution activities.
Beneficiaries of the financial aid are those registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture. (PNA)
