The Charter Day job fair of Iloilo City is offering some 10,650 vacancies for job seekers.

Iloilo City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Gabriel Felix Umadhay said 120 employers — consisting of 93 local companies, 15 business process outsourcing firms, and 12 accredited overseas recruitment firms — are joining the one-day job fair at Robinsons Place Iloilo on Friday.

“Our overseas employers are willing to hire as long as our applicants have passports. So, the minimum qualifications for our overseas applicants are their resume, passport, and valid IDs,” Umadhay said in an interview on Thursday.

Overseas vacancies comprised roughly 10 percent of the total available jobs, and the rest are for domestic employment.

Job openings for overseas are skilled workers for restaurant services, like baristas, cooks, and sous chefs; while for the service industry are housekeepers, carpenters, shield-metal welders, plumbers, and drivers with National Competency II.

There is also a need for nurses with National Council Licensure Examination in Europe and the United States.

For local employment, the top three in-demand jobs are for nurses, administrative staff, and sales and marketing. There is also a need for service industry workers.

Umadhay said the job fair will have employment assistance areas, that will include the Social Security System, the Philippine Health Insurance Corp., and Pag-IBIG.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will also join the job fair to offer on-the-spot training scholarships in line with the celebration of the National Tech-Voc Day. (PNA)
