The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) extended over PHP3 million in livelihood assistance to 103 beneficiaries in Motiong, Samar on Friday.

The assistance included tools, jigs, and equipment for new or existing livelihood ventures such as eateries, bakeries, street food vending, sari-sari stores, beauty care services, tailoring, and carpentry.

The initiative is part of the pilot implementation of the Graduation Approach under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (GA-DILP).

“The GA-DILP provides a more comprehensive approach to livelihood assistance by combining livelihood grants with skills enhancement, business management training, and access to social insurance programs,” DOLE Samar field office head Aleksei Ceasar Abellar said in a statement.

Motiong Mayor Rene Anthony Cabael thanked DOLE for its continued partnership in helping improve the lives of town residents.

The approach under the DILP is a targeted poverty alleviation strategy. It is a sequenced, time-bound framework designed to help the poorest and most vulnerable workers transition out of extreme poverty into sustainable, resilient livelihoods. (PNA)
