The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) released on Monday seed capital of PHP15,000 each to 16 beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program in Antique.
“Through the help of the DSWD, we are providing livelihood to the vulnerable sector of our province in order to improve their quality of life,” Governor Paolo Everardo Javier, who led the release of assistance together with the SLP Antique team leader Noli Valenzuela during the regular flag raising ceremony at the Javier Freedom Park, said.
Valenzuela, in an interview, said DSWD has allocated PHP5.05 million for their target of 340 beneficiaries in Antique.
“The 16 individual beneficiaries from San Jose de Buenavista are just the first ones to receive the seed capital,” he said.
They intend to engage in food vending, livestock raising, and trading.
The other beneficiaries are from the municipalities of Barbaza, with 13; Bugasong, 41; Hamtic, 33; Pandan, 36; Patnongon, 38; San Remigio, 15; Sebaste, 11; Sibalom, 22; Tibiao, 84; Tobias Fornier, 20; and Valderrama, with 11.
Their seed capital will be released this July. (PNA)
