DPWH Completes Hub For Recreation, Community Activities In Lipa City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 4A (Calabarzon) has completed multi-purpose facilities worth PHP72.3 million at the Lipa City Community Park in Batangas province.

In a phone interview on Thursday, DPWH-4A Director Jovel Mendoza said the Lipa City Community Park is now ready to welcome visitors as a hub for recreation and community activities.

Mendoza said the project encompassed several enhancements, including the establishment of a local government-operated coffee shop and food kiosks.

“A detention tank was installed to mitigate flooding, alongside additional public toilets, gazebos, a 50-meter by 25-meter Olympic-size pool equipped with a water pump system, and the reintroduction of a mini football field featuring durable synthetic grass,” he said.

Further improvements involved upgrading driveways and walkways using a stamped concrete system, as well as the refurbishment of landscaped areas, he added.

Mendoza said the rehabilitation of Lipa City Community Park was carried out under the Convergence and Special Support Program for Sustainable Infrastructure Projects Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG), funded through the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) implemented by the 4th Engineering District Office of Batangas province.

“It has quickly become one of the most cherished community spaces in the city,” he said. (PNA)
