Around 5,000 individuals are set to benefit from a new housing modality incorporated under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said Wednesday.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said he has directed the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) to pursue and complete stalled urban housing projects, which will now be included as a new modality under the Expanded 4PH.
“Alinsunod sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. para sa mas may dignidad na pabahay sa ating mga kababayan, atin pong binubuhay at mas pinapaganda ang mga proyektong hindi natapos dati upang pakinabangan na agad (In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide more dignified housing for our fellow Filipinos, we are reviving and further improving previously unfinished projects so they can already be put to us),” Aliling said in a statement.
He added that the DHSUD, together with its attached agencies, remains committed to expanding the 4PH program to enable more Filipino families to achieve homeownership.
As an initial step, the SHFC has identified three stalled vertical housing projects (VHPs) in Caloocan City that will be pursued and enhanced under the Expanded 4PH.
These include the Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative and Hopeville Phase 2 Homeowners Association Inc., both located in Barangay Bagumbong, and the Genesis Ville HOA Inc. in Barangay Camarin.
The projects were approved during the administration of former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and were intended primarily for informal settler families.
Serving as the first batch of VHPs under the Expanded 4PH, the three projects consist of 35 low-rise buildings that were not fully completed.
The SHFC will undertake improvements, including the development of open spaces and community facilities.
“Mahigit isang dekada na pong hinihintay ng ating mga kababayan ang mga housing units na ito, kaya sa utos ng ating Pangulong Marcos Jr. ay pabibilisin at pagagandahin natin ang mga ito para sa kaligtasan at seguridad ng ating mga beneficiaries (Our fellow Filipinos have been waiting for more than a decade for these housing units, which is why, upon the directive of President Marcos Jr., we will fast-track and further improve them to ensure the safety and security of our beneficiaries),” Aliling said.
He added that more similar projects are expected to be awarded to beneficiaries under the Expanded 4PH program in the coming months. (PNA)
