The Department of Agriculture (DA) has extended agriculture-enterprise support to more than 125 farmers in Misamis Oriental through its Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program.

Mark Anthony Lagamon, SAAD’s regional lead for operations, planning, and evaluation, said the interventions include vegetable, egg, livestock, and corn production projects.

“We believe that agriculture is fundamental to drive economic growth and self-sufficiency in local communities,” Lagamon said in a statement Wednesday.

The program also provided equipment and tools to 80 farmer organizations and conducted a series of training sessions to help members adopt a business-oriented approach to farming.

“With this training, we intend that our farmers will do away with the old mindset to simply produce farm products for daily sustenance,” Lagamon added.

SAAD aims to help marginal farmers scale up productivity and turn farming into a profitable enterprise, contributing to sustainable agricultural development in the region, the DA said. (PNA)
