The Davao Light and Power Company Inc. (DLPC) officially opened its 138 kV ERA Line 2 project here on Monday, aimed at meeting the city’s increasing energy demand.

The project involves a 25-km. sub-transmission line that connects the DLPC Substation, located along J.P. Laurel Avenue, to the National Power Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)-Davao Substation in Mintal.

In an interview, Engr. Enriczar Tia, DLPC president and chief operations officer, stated that the newly opened power line will significantly improve power reliability, especially in Davao’s downtown area. This ensures a more stable and resilient energy supply for the future.

“This is the second 138 kV line serving this ERA substation. The substation is very important as it serves the metropolis of Davao City,” he said.

He noted that the substation will increase the capacity load to the city’s downtown area from 150 million volt-amperes (MVA) to 350 MVA.

“That is crucial because Davao City is also growing; we have many (DLPC) customers, and there has been an increase in customer demand,” Tia added. (PNA)
