The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday proclaimed five of nine winning parliamentary district representative candidates in Lanao del Sur for the Sept. 14 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE).
Lawyer Mohammad Nabil Mutia, Lanao del Sur election supervisor, said the proclamation was based on 97.79 percent of the BPE election returns canvassed in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Proclaimed were Hamza Gauraki (UBJP), Lanao Sur second district representative; 4th District Rep. Lampa Pandi (UBJP); 6th District Rep. Hosni Macapodi (SIAP); 7th District Rep Rayyan Mindalano (SIAP), and 8th District Rep. Ahmad Amir Balindong (UBJP).
Once canvassing is complete, Mutia said the provincial board of canvassers will proclaim the four remaining winners in the parliamentary district contests in Lanao del Sur.
The canvassing is being held at the provincial capitol of Lanao del Sur in Marawi City.
Mutia lauded the security forces, local government officials, poll officials, and all stakeholders for the peaceful and successful conduct of elections in Lanao del Sur.
“There were minor incidents, but they did not in any way affect the overall conduct of elections,” Mutia told reporters in an interview, noting that the BPE was the most peaceful balloting in the province so far. (PNA)
