An online verification platform launched by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region has served 66,802 clients since November, officials reported Wednesday.
The BBM Serbisyo (BBMS) platform authenticates identities using the National ID system to streamline transactions for programs like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), social pensions, and crisis assistance.
“This is a user-friendly platform where we gather details such as complete name, birthday, and contact number. It is also equipped with a liveness check or live selfie feature,” said DSWD-11 statistician Medley Mora in a press briefing.
Mora said the system aims to verify around 509,000 regional clients, preventing fraud and duplication while eliminating the need for physical ID cards during transactions.
He clarified that 4Ps beneficiaries who cannot register will not be automatically delisted, as the program uses a separate management system. (PNA)
