Bookings Surge Ahead Of Major Bangkok Events

Asset World Corp (AWC) said forward hotel bookings across its Thai portfolio are running 30% ahead of the same period last year, with the company crediting a run of major international events for driving demand into the second half of 2026. Wallapa Traisorat, chief executive officer and president of AWC, said the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, to be held in Bangkok, are expected to be a key driver of the surge.

Forward booking figures as of early August point to broad-based demand across AWC’s Thai destinations. Pattaya leads with bookings up 283% year-on-year, followed by Bangkok at 45%, Chiang Mai at 39%, Krabi at 12% and Koh Samui at 10%. AWC’s major Bangkok meeting hotels, including The Okura Prestige Bangkok, The Athenee Hotel (a Luxury Collection Hotel) and Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, have already reached occupancy of around 78% for the event period. Additional events cited as contributing to demand include Gastech and the Tomorrowland music festival, both of which are expected to draw different visitor segments into Bangkok and Pattaya during the second half of the year.

Second-Quarter Results

The forward-booking momentum follows a Q2 2026 performance in which AWC’s hospitality business generated revenue of 2,761 million baht (US$83 million), up 5.7% year-on-year, with EBITDA of 742 million baht, an increase of 9.7%. EBITDA margin for the hospitality segment improved from 25.9% to 26.9%, which the company attributed to recovery in Bangkok hotels alongside continued growth from luxury resorts and hotels in key tourism destinations. Across the group, total revenue reached 5,502 million baht, up 5.6% year-on-year, while net profit rose 4.6% to 1,468 million baht. AWC’s commercial property business also grew, with revenue up 13.4% year-on-year, led by the performance of the Asiatique The Riverfront Destination lifestyle complex.

New Brand Debut And Repositioning

AWC is opening Fairmont Bangkok Sukhumvit this month, marking the first Fairmont-branded hotel in Thailand and deepening the group’s focus on luxury MICE business. The company is also repositioning existing assets to lift room rates: The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket is being converted into a Ritz-Carlton, a move AWC expects will triple average daily rate at the property, while the Jubilee Prestige Hotel Ratchadapisek is being rebranded as a JW Marriott, with ADR expected to roughly double.

These moves are part of a five-year investment plan worth 100 billion baht running through 2030, under which AWC intends to grow its hospitality portfolio from 25 hotels today to 35 hotels totaling 9,312 room keys.

REIT Plans

AWC is also preparing to establish a real estate investment trust that would hold up to 50 billion baht of operating hotel and commercial assets. The company has said the initiative could help revitalize Thailand’s REIT market while shifting AWC’s balance sheet toward a more asset-light structure.
