Pertamina Patra Niaga, the retail fuel subsidiary of state energy company PT Pertamina, announced the price adjustments in a written statement issued August 31. The company said the changes applied to a subset of its non-subsidized product line, specifically Pertamax Turbo, Pertamina Dex, and Dexlite, while Pertamax 92 and Pertamax Green 95 were left unchanged on September 1.
Pertamina Patra Niaga Vice President of Corporate Communication Kitty Andhora said the adjustments followed a government-set formula accounting for global crude oil prices, the rupiah exchange rate, taxes, and other factors including consumer purchasing power. Andhora added that the company weighed economic conditions, purchasing power, and social factors in limiting the increase to select products rather than the full non-subsidized lineup.
The price gap between diesel-type products was the widest, with Dexlite and Pertamina Dex both rising by more than Rp4,000 per liter, compared to the smaller Rp1,300 increase applied to Pertamax Turbo. Pertamina Patra Niaga also urged consumers to purchase fuel according to actual need and to use products matching their vehicle specifications.
A day after the initial adjustment, Pertamina separately raised the price of Pertamax Green 95 by 15.36 percent to Rp19,150 per liter, according to the company’s fuel price data. Pricing for all products continues to vary across Indonesia’s regions due to differing local fuel taxes and distribution costs.
The increases come as Indonesia’s currency has faced sustained pressure against the US dollar through 2026, with the rupiah trading in the Rp17,700 to Rp17,900 range in prior months. The government has maintained that subsidized fuel prices, including Pertalite, will remain unchanged through the end of 2026 regardless of currency or crude price movements.
