Two aspirants have filed their respective Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) at the start of the filing period on Wednesday for the special elections in the fourth legislative district of Cavite province.
In a statement, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said the first to file his COC was former Dasmariñas City vice mayor Raul Rex Mangubat.
Another candidate, Marvin Dupal-ag, also filed his COC.
The poll body advised those who would like to run for the post to file their COC from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the AVR, Socio-Economic Building (New City Hall), Dasmariñas City until Friday.
An aspirant may file his/her COC in person or through an authorized representative at the designated address by submitting five copies of the sworn Certificate of Candidacy, along with the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA), if applicable.
To verify their qualifications for the position, a copy of the aspirant’s birth certificate must be attached to the COC as “Annex 1.”
The winner in the Aug. 29, 2026 special elections will replace former Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga, who was expelled by House members in June due to “disorderly behavior, conduct unbecoming of a member, and violations of the House Code of Conduct.” (PNA)
