Vivant Energy Accelerates Clean Energy Growth With Acquisition Of Samar Phils. Renewable Corp.

Spotlight

Vivant Energy Corporation (VEC), through its renewable energy subsidiary, Vivant Renewable Energy Corporation (VREC), has completed the acquisition of a 100% stake in Samar Philippines Renewable Corporation (SPRC) from Envision Energy Philippines Corporation (Envision), strengthening its renewable energy portfolio and expanding its presence in the country’s growing wind energy sector.

SPRC is developing a 200-megawatt (MW) wind farm spanning the municipalities of Lavezares, Allen, Victoria, and Rosario in Catarman, Northern Samar. The project is targeted for completion and grid integration by the end of 2028, contributing additional renewable capacity to support the Philippines’ energy transition and energy security goals.

The Project is expected to generate approximately 695 GWh of clean energy annually, sufficient to power more than 190,000 households. It is also projected to offset approximately 487,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions each year, supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources and contributing significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The acquisition marks another significant step in Vivant’s renewable energy growth as it moves closer to its 30 by 30 goal of increasing renewable energy capacity. Thirty-six percent of the project’s capacity has secured an award under the fourth Green Energy Auction Program (GEA-4), with the balance of the capacity to be covered by an offtake agreement with a Retail Electricity Supplier (RES).

As the original developer and project development partner, Envision has supported the Lavezares Wind Project by providing expertise on advanced turbine technology, engineering expertise, and comprehensive development support. Envision will continue to work closely with Vivant Energy to advance the project towards construction and commercial operation, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality renewable energy infrastructure in the Philippines.

For an archipelagic country like the Philippines, energy security depends on a power mix that is both diverse and deliberate. Wind belongs in places where the resource is strong, strategic, and efficient. In Northern Samar, Vivant Energy sees an opportunity to add greener capacity where it can support a more resilient energy portfolio and contribute to the country’s long-term energy stability.
