The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caraga Region (DSWD-13) has sent around 20,000 boxes of family food packs (FFPs) to families affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Region 12, the agency said Wednesday.
Part of the relief goods came from the Mindanao Disaster Resource Center (MDRC).
“The delivery in the affected areas continues to ensure additional humanitarian supplies and strengthen ongoing relief operations,” DSWD-13 said.
Aside from FFPs, DSWD-13 and MDRC also provided 380 water filtration kits, 289 family clothing kits, 450 sleeping bags and 87 family tents.
“Preparations and loading operations are being facilitated for other augmentation support for immediate deployment in the affected areas,” DSWD-13 said.
The ongoing operations follow President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive for a strengthened and swift government response during emergencies and calamities.
DSWD-13 also sent two Mobile Storage Units to Region 12 on Monday to support relief operations and ensure organized storage, management, and rapid distribution of relief goods. (PNA)
