A total of 810 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged (TUPAD) Workers will be deployed to assist in the Brigada Eskwela of the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique.

Benjie Requintina, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, said in an interview on Thursday that TUPAD beneficiaries will help clean the school premises, arrange classroom tables and chairs, and repaint the classrooms.

“The deployment of the TUPAD beneficiaries will be in the four municipalities that are implementing the program right now,” he said, citing the towns of Belison, Tibiao, Libertad, and Sebaste.

The deployment of TUPAD beneficiaries to the schools from June 1-5 adheres to the memorandum of agreement forged between the DOLE and DepEd central offices on May 13.

“Although the TUPAD beneficiaries will be assigned to help in the DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela, they will still be receiving their wages from DOLE,” Requintina said.

After their five-day deployment to the DepEd schools, the TUPAD beneficiaries may carry out their tasks according to the approved program of works of their respective municipalities to complete their 10-day emergency employment, or may continue to render service in the schools.

The TUPAD beneficiaries will receive PHP5,500 for 10 days of work. (PNA)
