A week before the deadline of the nationwide voter registration activities, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday reported that it has processed close to 5 million applications for voter registration since it started six months ago.
Based on poll body data, as of May 9, the running total of applications processed is 4,740,551 since the registration resumed in November 2025.
Of the number, female applicants recorded with the highest number at 2,440,297 while male applicants are 2,300,254.
Calabarzon (Region 4-A) still has the most number of applications received with 767,901 (398,751 females and 369,150 males).
It is followed by Central Luzon (Region 3) with 524,679 (269,628 females and 255,150 males) and the National Capital Region with 501,352 (266,440 females and 234,912 males).
The region with the least number of applicants is Cordillera Administrative Region with 64,256 (266,440 females and 30,562).
The Comelec added that it has so far received a total of 1,275,456 applications for new registrants (18 years old and above), while applications for transfer from other city/municipality is at 1,211,495. Transfer within the same city/municipality is at 291,346.
The applications for reactivation are at 215,832. Applications for change of Name/Correction of Entries is at 232,347.
On the other hand, the applications of voters for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls, for new voters, there are 1,258,745; while those who applied for transfer from other city/municipality is 16,660.
Other applications accepted are for reactivation with correction of entries, reactivation with transfer within and correction of entries, among others
Earlier, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said they are happy with the increasing trend in voter applications.
“We are happy because that number is increasing, especially as our registration period is approaching, which will end on May 18, [2026],” he added.
The voter registration activities resumed on Nov. 20, 2025 in connection with the holding of the Barangay and SK Elections (BSKE) set this November. (PNA)
