The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday said the two-day filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for District Representatives for the Sept. 14 Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections (BPE) has been set early next month.
Based on the calendar of activities for the first BPE, the filing of COCs is set from May 5 to May 9, 2026.
Aside from the COC, the poll body has also scheduled, on the same dates, the filing of the list of nominees along with their Certificates of Acceptance and Nomination and affidavits of non-affinity for regional parliamentary political parties and coalitions.
Election period begins on July 16 and will run until Sept. 29, 2026. During the said period, carrying firearms is prohibited. Candidates are also barred from using security personnel or bodyguards unless authorized by the Commission.
Also prohibited during the election period are the alteration of territory of a precinct or the establishment of new precincts; transfer or detail of civil service officers and employees; organization or maintenance of reaction forces, strike forces, or similar forces; suspension of elective, provincial, city, municipal, or barangay officers without prior Comelec approval; and the illegal release of prisoners.
Candidates are allowed to promote their candidacies during the campaign period. (PNA)
