Finance Secretary Frederick Go met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Wednesday to discuss how the Philippines can advance its Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) agenda of strengthening regional economic integration.
In a statement Thursday, the DOF said Go highlighted the government’s efforts to support private sector growth by fostering a more business-friendly environment.
He also shared key initiatives to digitalize government services, including the rollout of the national digital ID system and the development of the eGov app, which connects citizens to public services, such as the Social Security System (SSS) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
Georgieva, meanwhile, said that the IMF stands ready to support the Philippines through policy advice and technical assistance to help strengthen economic cooperation within ASEAN.
She also welcomed Go’s commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline.
