Livestock Project Worth PHP3.8 Million To Boost Davao De Oro Poultry Production

The Department of Agriculture (DA) 11 (Davao Region) has awarded a PHP3.8 million Livestock Economic Enterprise Development (LEED) project to a cooperative in Davao de Oro to boost sustainable poultry production and expand livelihood opportunities.

In a statement Tuesday, DA-11 Director Macario Gonzaga said the Pindasan Multipurpose Cooperative, the project beneficiary, will establish a livestock enterprise aimed at producing quality poultry products accessible to local farmers and communities.

“It will also help hasten the recovery and restoration of livelihoods through sustainable chicken raising and production,” Gonzaga added.

The project, funded under the National Livestock Program for Fiscal Year 2025, includes 500 hens, 100 roosters, animal and zoological supplies, housing, and equipment. The initiative is expected to generate employment and business opportunities for cooperative members, particularly women, children, and the elderly.

Gonzaga emphasized that the LEED project seeks to transform traditional backyard livestock raising into sustainable and profitable community enterprises.

“We encourage the beneficiaries to maximize the support by enhancing livestock production and promoting inclusive growth in rural areas,” he said. (PNA)
