The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) has vowed to expedite paying back health provider partners within seven working days.
In a media briefing Saturday, Dr. Edwin Mercado, PhilHealth Acting President and Chief Executive Officer, said under the “Rise 30” reform initiative, they have been working to cut the payment process of reimbursement to private health clinics and hospitals.
The “Rise 30” vision is a 30-month reform initiative by PhilHealth that focuses on improving efficiency and trust in healthcare services.
“Before we get to process seven months for payments, but recently we were able to make it as early as 14 to 16 days, so why not make it even shorter to seven days?” Mercado said.
He said cooperation with private health service providers is also important to make the process of reimbursements faster, especially in complying with the necessary requirements in paperwork.
He said PhilHealth has also established a system to help its partners be informed of the lacking requirements in claiming for reimbursement.
Mercado has been in the Northern Mindanao Region to dialogue with local stakeholders since Oct. 10. (PNA)
