An additional 15,199 household-beneficiaries in this highly urbanized city affected by the devastation brought by Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi) in November 2025 will receive PHP82.11 million Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Data from the city’s Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) on Thursday showed 102 severely-affected families or households and 15,199 others listed as slightly affected are included in the third batch of payout.
During the payout set from March 9 to 12, those severely affected will get PHP10,325 each, or a total of PHP1.05 million, while the slightly affected families will receive PHP5,369 each, or a total of PHP81.06 million.
DSSD head Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga said the recipients are those “left out” or “replaced” in the first two batches who received the cash assistance last December.
“This is in response to the call of the local government led by Mayor Greg Gasataya. We sincerely thank the DSWD for scheduling the third and final batch of the ECT payout,” she added.
The payouts distributed over 19 days, between Dec. 12 and 31, released PHP230.12 million in ECT assistance to 39,369 families under the first and second batches.
Among them were 3,789 severely affected families and 35,575 slightly affected families.
The DSWD’s ECT program is a post-disaster intervention that provides unconditional cash assistance to affected families to meet their immediate needs.
The initiative bridges disaster relief and early recovery by empowering households to set their priorities using available local resources, thereby contributing to the early restoration of the communities. (PNA)
